Screens Connect should only have one instance running at all times.
This article will show you what to do if you see several instances of Screens Connect in your menu bar:
Procedure:
- Click on the Screens Connect menu bar icon and select Stop Screens Connect.
- You will need to enter your user password in order to stop the service.
- Repeat Step 1 for each instances.
- Locate all copies of Screens Connect.app that are not in your /Applications folder.
- Move those copies to the Trash and empty it.
- Double-click on /Applications/Screens Connect.app to restart the service.
If you're having trouble finding the unwanted instance of Screens Connect, follow these instructions:
- Launch Activity Monitor.
- Select the "CPU" tab.
- Search for "Screens Connect" (without quotes).
- Select each instance and click the Info button (i).
- Select the Open File and Ports tab.
- In the first couple of lines, you should see the path where the app is located.
- Proceed to the instructions above.
